Malcolm Funn brought so much light into the organizing spaces that he occupied. The entire Strong Schools Maryland collective mourns his passing.
Malcolm was a voice of leadership in the manifold organizations where he advocated for justice, including the Board of Elections and the Calvert County NAACP. Malcolm was with us in our early days, fiercely advocating with Strong Schools Maryland as a Calvert County Team Leader. Malcolm saw and seized opportunities to demand that leaders strive to bring about greater, more material educational equity in Maryland.
Our thoughts are with Malcom’s family, his loved ones, and the people who were touched by his work.
We will honor Malcolm by carrying his name and his fight forward with us as we work to create World Class Schools for every student in our state. Remember to take care of yourselves and one another as we live our values in these turbulent times.
