The Workshop

The Strong Schools Newsletter

IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR...

Happy holidays and welcome to THE WORKSHOP, the Strong Schools Maryland newsletter where we keep you up-to-date with news, resources, and information about the progress we’re making (and how you can be a "little helper" when it comes to World Class Schools in Maryland!).

💡 THE BIG IDEA

If you’re reading this, we’ve gone home for the holidays, and we hope you’ll find some time over the next week to do connect with the people and pastimes that you care about. Like this quick action: Send Governor-Elect Wes Moore and Lt. Governor-Elect Aruna Miller a holiday message with your hopes for World Class Schools in the new year!

📐 BLUEPRINT UPDATES

🔍 AIB & MSDE Updates

The Blueprint Accountability and Implementation Board met with the Maryland State Department of Education for an in-person retreat on Friday, December 16th.

The retreat served as a discussion space for members of MDSE and the AIB to get "up to speed" on the five pillars of the Blueprint and to ask questions about implementation over the short and long term.

The AIB's draft Comprehensive Implementation Plan was not discussed at length, but many members of the Blueprint Coalition and Strong Schools' Teams of Ten had feedback which they shared with the AIB through video testimony at TEAM '22.

MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN YOUR COMMUNITY

Your local school system is planning for Blueprint implementation as you read this! If you don't know your Blueprint implementation coordinator and you haven't been a part of your school district's discussions about this multimillion dollar investment, we want to get you directly involved. Join advocates in your community by connecting with our local organizer Maya to discuss the best ways for you to take action today!

Before we close the books on this year's fundraising, we're asking for a few more grassroots donors to help us start the New Year right with the tools and resources we need to win. Please consider giving today to ensure that our important advocacy for Maryland's schools is as robust as possible in 2023

Wishing you and the people you are close to a safe and happy holiday. For the Future, Strong Schools Maryland
